Level 2 Understanding Autism in a Health Care Setting

The course is aimed at developing a learners understanding of what is meant by "autism", theories and diagnosis, developing an understanding of legislation, guidance and support networks available to individuals and their families. It looks at strategies that can be used to communicate with individuals with autism and how to support their sensory needs. This course will take 12 weeks to complete and consists of 2 written assessments.

The course will be of benefit for individuals progressing in employment in a variety of sectors and job roles where an understanding of autism and the knowledge to support individuals with autism is required.

This course is currently being subsidised by the college and is, therefore, free of charge at present UNLESS you fail to complete it; in which case you will be liable to pay £50 to cover the cost of materials and administration plus any registration costs that may have been incurred.

Courses are only free to people who have lived in England for the past 3 yrs, are aged 19 years or over and are not currently accessing any other government funded training.

  • Unit 6 Supporting individuals with autism to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.
