Level 2 Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health & Social Care

This qualification is designed primarily for individuals working with, or intending to work with vulnerable adults in the Health and Social Care sectors. This programme will take 16 weeks to complete and consists of 4 written assessments.

The qualification will help learners how to identify safeguarding issues and uphold excellent standards of care provision for vulnerable adults. It will provide a thorough understanding of the importance of dignity and safeguarding and can help you to begin or to develop a career within the Care sectors.

This course is currently being subsidised by the college so that you can enrol for the course free of charge.

Courses are only free to people who have lived in England for the past 3 yrs, are aged 19 years or over and are not currently accessing any other government funded training.

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

According to the Health & Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) a total of 173,000 safeguarding alerts and 112,000 safeguarding referrals were reported for vulnerable adults in England.

The number of referrals has increased by 4 per cent and the most common types of abuse reported in referrals involved physical abuse and neglect.

Safeguarding adults and upholding the dignity of those accessing health and social care services are key principles of the sector and this course is designed to support individuals currently working in the adult Health and Social Care sectors to share good practice.
