Level 3 Principles of End of Life Care

This qualification covers the key topics relating to end of life care. In particular, you will learn about the emotive issues surrounding death and dying and develop your understanding of palliative care and its place within end of life care.

The course reviews how best to support a person's familial, spiritual, social and emotional needs, along with the support services available to the individual and others. In addition you will explore the processes of loss and grief and how to support those who are bereaved and also how to cope with your own feelings of stress and grief.

PART A:
  • UNIT 1: Understanding end of life care
  • UNIT 2: Communication during end of life care
  • UNIT 3: Assessment and care planning in end of life care
PART B:
  • UNIT 4: Person centred approaches to end of life care
  • UNIT 5: Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care


Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

This will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete.
