Level 2 Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent

The free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent course provides an opportunity to increase your knowledge and awareness of the Prevent Duty and safeguarding, including online safety. By completing the qualification, you will develop knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where you have a duty of care.

On this course, you will study units such as understanding prevent duty, safeguarding and online safety, how to reduce the risk of radicalisation, recognising signs of abuse or potential harm, how to reduce the risks posed online and the potential signs of behavioural changes.

On the free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent course you will learn:

Unit 1: Understanding the Prevent Duty

  • Understand the Prevent Duty
  • Understand the terms radicalisation, extremism and terrorism
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of radicalisation

Unit 2: Understanding Safeguarding

  • Understand the term safeguarding
  • Understand the national and local context of safeguarding and protection from abuse
  • Know how to recognise signs of abuse or potential harm
  • Know how to respond if abuse or harm is disclosed

Unit 3: Understanding Online Safety

  • Understand the potential consequences of inappropriate or illegal online activity
  • Understand how to reduce the risks posed online
  • Know about potential signs and behavioural changes that could cause concern

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent. 

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using electronic templates which are provided at induction. Candidates are issued with workbooks to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 2 assessments each taking 4 weeks to complete.

Upon completion, you will receive a paper certificate through the post.

This course is currently being subsidised by the college and is, therefore, free of charge at present UNLESS you fail to complete it; in which case you will be liable to pay £85 to cover the cost of materials.
